There is a wide range of dishes in Vietnam, including the very popular nem (spring rolls) and pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). They are eaten together with rice or noodles. Not all foods are spicy. Vegetarian foods, dietary dishes & western menus are also available at some restaurants. A rich variety of tropical fruits is on hand year round, however, it will vary depending upon the season.

Imported beers and alcohols are available in hotels, restaurants and shops. There are many Vietnamese brands or country wines made from rice. If you prefer to drink water, please use bottled mineral water, which has an unbroken seal. Do not ingest tap water that has not been boiled.

FOOD VENDORS

Vietnamese eat everywhere, at all times of the day. It is no exception at the beach, and food vendors are abound at all beaches, except at Paradise Beach, where they are not allowed.

Most famous mouth watering dishes in Vung Tau are:

BANH KHOT

Banh Khot is a specialty in Vung Tau City. There are many places having this food, but the most delicious one is Goc Vu Sua located at 14 Nguyen Truong To. The place is known not only locally but also regionally, including Ho Chi Minh city. Having breakfast with this dish is extremely good. Rice flour, shrimp, and herbals will satisfy all tourists. The restaurant opens from 06 a.m. daily.


BANH XEO LONG HAI

Banh Xeo is quite popular for Southerners. The main ingredients are shrimp, pork, onion, green bean, egg, ect. And obviously rice powder. The majority can do this dish. But it is quite hard to cook it well. Banh Xeo Long Hai (Long Hai – Long Dien district) has it own recipe, including fresh shrimp, crispy and fragrant pie, sweet yellow. Dipping sauce is also well-done, leading to a distinct taste of each ingredient in the dish.


OC LEN XAO DUA

Formally, Len snail are done with 3 dishes: chilly, tamarind and coconut. Well done Len snail is dipped into a seasoned pan, creating a distinct taste. Len snail fried with coconut dish is one of the special food in the South. They are sold at Phuoc Hai and districts of VungTau.

FRIED CRABS WITH TAMARIND SAUCE

Fresh local crabs stir-fry with garlic, shallots, chilli and specially made tamarind sauce.

Lotus –root salad with shrimp & pork (Gỏi ngó sen tôm thịt)
